Drew this tasty crowd for Amira Arasteh's beginners guide to Iranian food and Persian food shops in London for Vittles, (3.10).
I illustrated a quartet of mangoes and a bowl of amrakhand (or shrikhand as we'd say at home) for Apoorva Sripathi's piece for Vittles 'The Pleasure and Politics of Eating Mangoes' (6.11), published on Vittles.
I'm really excited to have my 'Indian Sweets' illustration included in issue 1 of Lecker zine. The issue features contributions from over 30 writers, cooks, artists and people generally talking about food. The first edition has sold out but keep an eye on the Lecker website for the second edition, which will be released before Christmas. Lecker podcast was created by Lucy Dearlove in 2016 and I highly recommend listening to it! Front cover illustration is by Holly Gorne and my piece sits alongside a poem by Jennifer Obidike.
When Lucy sent out the request for submissions, I had just finished my risograph print of 'Indian Sweets' at Rabbit Road Press, so submitted it. My print is pink ink on yellow 160gsm card and comes as a signed edition of 10. It features all my favourite Indian sweets and is available to buy from my Etsy shop.
I'm going to be at Brum Zine Fest 2019 on Saturday 6th July! I'll be doing a embroidery workshop on the theme of favourite snacks from 1.15pm to 2.30pm, a pot luck lunch. Check out their website to RSVP, see the all the events during the day and get the details!
Italian Food risograph print with pizza, cannoli, ice cream, spaghetti and a Aperol Spritz. Teal on pink 160gsm card, signed edition of 10 available to buy from my Etsy shop.
I love reading about folklore and superstitions, especially around Christmas. I like the way it connects with history, rituals slowly evolving with new customs. I researched and illustrated 'Twelve Food Superstitions of Christmas' which you can now read on the At The Table editorial section here.
Kay Plunkett-Hogge's pestle and mortars for At The Table's new The Kitchen Drawer column. Read it here.
Helena Lee writes about the apron for 'The Kitchen Drawer' column on the At The Table blog. I drew this butcher's apron for it - check out the piece here.
Nordic Bakery asked selected illustrators to draw their famous cinnamon buns as part of a celebration taking place next week in honour of Cinnamon Bun Day. Cinnamon Bun Week (28th September-4 October) will take place at the different Nordic Bakery shops in London and will involve special flavours of cinnamon buns and a new cake! I got my felt-tips out to draw the above. Check out their website for more details.
Produced some illustrations for Toast's Milk Tea Bread series of debates exploring the history, science and politics of these three staples. Get tickets and more information here.
I worked on these 'four season' embroideries over the festive weeks, Autumn Squash, Winter Roast, Spring Greens and Summer Trifle.
There is also a vegetarian version of Winter Roast with a pie. I've made a set of notecards with these embroideries printed on available in my Etsy shop and in one week I will have them in stock at LOIS.
