Snowshill, Gloucestershire in January

Snowshill, Gloucestershire - close to Broadway Village.
From 'Broadway - A Village History' by Derek Parsons
Chapter 7 - Custom, Folklore and Superstition
p73
"Among the Broadway customs Morris recorded was the practice of spreading corn husk at the door of a wife beater, the public thus notified that 'thrashing' had taken place there, and the man hopefully being suitably shamed into mending his ways. Another expression of moral indignation was reserved for unfaithful wives, who could find themselves serenaded in their homes by a mock band of players on pots and pans."
p74
"Hedgehogs suffered from the superstition they stole milk from cows whilst they rested in the fields and carried windfall apples away on their backs."

Jayne and Godfrey Cushion

I made this cushion for my friend Jayne Archard for Christmas. She loves pugs, so naturally this embroidery was the choice I made for the pattern. I ordered this to be printed onto organic cotton sateen from Spoonflower. The cushion cover measures 52cm x 52cm for a 50cm x 50cm cushion. The back is two pieces overlapped (one 37cm, one 25cm) so that the cover can be removed for washing.
These are a few pictures of the cushion and a yard of the fabric.

Food and Nostalgia Embroidered

I revisited a project I did on food and nostalgia, which involved a lot of research that I didn't use. I created these three embroideries over the past month to exhibit at 'Eat What You Like'

The exhibition is currently showing at the Sassoon Gallery, Peckham until 11 September and includes work by Georgia Rodger, Annu Kilpelainen, Meow Nails and Garudio Studiage.

Male Pattern

For Tigerprint's current competition for 'Male Pattern'. Bikes Bikes Bikes. And unicyles and penny farthings. I went for a clean black, blue and white pattern and a softer brown, navy, blue and white pattern.
