Expedition No. 2: To The North!
I was lucky enough to visit a secret club/en hemmelig club’s ‘Expedition 2: To The North’ and help with a workshop on Friday 14th December, stitching shapes to add to colourful paper huts that had been made in a previous workshop. The show itself had work from a group of really talented artists including Anna Walsh (Garudio Studiage), Rita Furstenau, Phuc Van Dang, Cendrine Rovini and Esther McManus.
I made two embroideries for the show ‘The Northern Herdsmen’ and ‘Herdsmen’s Sampler’. The pieces have a border that glows in the dark after being exposed to a room of light or UV light. The colourful dress of the herdsmen keep evil spirits away as they heard their flock of antlered sheep through the Northern Forest.
Ceramic bells
Conker bell – autumn flora, hand painted with reactive glaze.
Bird bell – green slip stripes, shiny white glaze and bird transfers.
‘Camber-bell’ – shiny white glaze and transfers of faces from around Camberwell.

Expedition No.2 - To The North
I'm really excited to be showing with a secret club again in their new show opening this weekend - 'Expedition No.2: To The North!'. The exhibition will transform a former post office in Aarhus, with work by a secret club and a whole host of talented artists who have explored the world of The Northern Forest described by Annabelle Nielsen and Kenn Munk.
I'm showing two embroideries depicting the herdsmen of The Northern Forest and their world..no pictures just yet, don't want to spoil the surprise (it does glow-on-the dark). We'll be running a workshop together on Friday 12th December from 12pm-3pm, embroidering onto huts that have been created during the exciting workshops put together during the show.
The show can be found at the corner of Vesterbro Torv and Vesterport, 8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.
For more information on the show, workshops and the opening times, please visit a secret club website.

Lots of planets have a North
'Lots of planets have a North' is a project by Emma Jackson and Claire Biddles exploring the North of England as it is imagined, lived, dreamed of, in words & pictures. The publication is designed by Kate Dunstone, which was released in Summer 2014. You can view the project on their Tumblr.
I was really pleased to have my embroidery 'Haworth Pub' included in the project.
