Expedition No. 2: To The North!

I was lucky enough to visit a secret club/en hemmelig club’s ‘Expedition 2: To The North’ and help with a workshop on Friday 14th December, stitching shapes to add to colourful paper huts that had been made in a previous workshop. The show itself had work from a group of really talented artists including Anna Walsh (Garudio Studiage), Rita Furstenau, Phuc Van Dang, Cendrine Rovini and Esther McManus.

I made two embroideries for the show ‘The Northern Herdsmen’ and ‘Herdsmen’s Sampler’. The pieces have a border that glows in the dark after being exposed to a room of light or UV light. The colourful dress of the herdsmen keep evil spirits away as they heard their flock of antlered sheep through the Northern Forest.

Expedition No.2 - To The North

I'm really excited to be showing with a secret club again in their new show opening this weekend - 'Expedition No.2: To The North!'. The exhibition will transform a former post office in Aarhus, with work by a secret club and a whole host of talented artists who have explored the world of The Northern Forest described by Annabelle Nielsen and Kenn Munk.

I'm showing two embroideries depicting the herdsmen of The Northern Forest and their world..no pictures just yet, don't want to spoil the surprise (it does glow-on-the dark). We'll be running a workshop together on Friday 12th December from 12pm-3pm, embroidering onto huts that have been created during the exciting workshops put together during the show.

The show can be found at the corner of Vesterbro Torv and Vesterport, 8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.

For more information on the show, workshops and the opening times, please visit a secret club website.

Visible Friends - Pictures

All photographs from a secret club

A few months ago, Annabelle Nielsen of a secret club asked me to submit some artwork based on the theme of dolls and action figures for an exhibition. I created a paper doll on the idea of 'A Winter Adventure'- a circular embroidery and a limited edition of thirty printed copies. The prints contain a piece of card to draw a garden, a forest, woodland to create the story.

Last week a secret club set up a pop-up gallery at Klostergade 68 in Aarhus, Denmark showing the work of twenty seven different artists. I've stolen these pictures of the exhibition from a secret club's facebook, so do have a look there for more photos and news.

Artwork shown by Frederikke Becher Hermansen, Tiwidot, Garudio Studiage, Maria Raymondsdotter, Cendrine Rovini, Reena Makwana, Molly Lattin and Lucy Steggals (pictured) and also Akiko Misumi, Brian Flynn, Birgitte Haahr Lund, Sneaky Raccoon - The Work of Anna Mullin, Melanie Williams, Lee Worton, Garudio Studiage (Chris Ratcliffe and Molly Lattin), Rachel Lattimore, Per Ragnar Møkleby, The Tarantulas, Tony Lee, Xavi Garcia, Masaki Miwa and Adam Hutchinson, Yunmee Kyong, Elkeland and Annabelle Nielsen & Kenn Munk and a secret club.

Visible Friends - A secret club

I'm really excited to be showing a new piece 'A Winter Adventure' in 'Visible Friends' organised by A secret club, featuring work by 27 artists, which you can read about below.

"It's time for some art to brighten up your winter days!

We're taking over an empty shop and are opening a pop-up gallery for the show "Visible Friends" in which 27 artists of extraordinary calibre have travelled back in time to share their childhood memories of dolls and action figures.

Entry is free and we are open from 10.00AM to 5.30 PM every day from 7th to 13th December in Klostergade 68 in Aarhus, Denmark.

All work is for sale and on the opening weekend, a secret club also sells other work from the participating artists in their mini-desiger's/artist's market.

Please note that it is cash only."

A secret club will be showing sneak peeks on their Facebook - also keep an eye on their website and Twitter. If you follow my Etsy, I'll be showing the 'A Winter Adventure' Paper Doll original embroidery also with some paper dolls to buy.
